INDY, 2010

(2/15/2010)
Ron Lawson
Indianapolis Indiana might be under a foot or so of snow, but the hottest products in the ATV industry were on display to dealers at the annual Dealernews Powersports Expo. The show was still huge, but the economic slowdown was obvious this year, as most venders had smaller booths and more conservative displays. But the products were as interesting as ever. Here are some of the items and quads that caught our eye. For more, check out the May issue of Dirt Wheels in print.
Beau Baron just won the first WORCS race of the year and had his quad shiped to the Maxxis booth for display. Check out the May issue of Dirt Wheels for a feature on his machine.
There were the usual assortment of Asian UTVs on display, and the quality gets better every year. This is a Bennche version of the Polaris RZR.
Big Gun teamed up with Laegers and Streamline to produce this YZ450F powered racer. The engine is the new motorcycle PowerPoint with the reverse head.
Blingstar has some clever products like the axle locknut that can be tightened by hand.
Almost all the Pros use Douglas wheels. Now Douglas is making the Juniors, which are designed for mini ATV racers.
Douglas is also in the tire business with a new line of DWT rubber. The quality is good enough to run on most of the Motoworks race team.

The SS212 Platinum is one of the coolest looking custom wheels we saw at the show. ITP now has them in 12 and 14 inches.

HMF has a cool promotion going right now. If you have an old HMF pipe, you can trade it in on a new one and get $100 off. The slip on retails for $300, so that makes a double great deal. You can find out more at www.hmfracing.com.

Gorilla axles always has something cool to show.

This Thundercat will also be featured in the May issue of Dirt Wheels.

Kenda has the new Kutter tires for competition, in both MX and cross-country configuration.

There were lots of snow plows on display. Warn now has a kit to convert its plow into a bucket for light lifting.

Bruce Hendal was showing off VP's new 4.4 race fuel, which is still the most affordable horsepower available.

Scott in in the Helmet business now. The Airborne weighs about two and a half pounds.
