MCR / Maxxis Tire’s Beau Baron Wins WORCS Glen Helen MX
Bonsall, CA – MCR/Maxxis Tire’s Beau Baron was unstoppable at
round number seven of the 2011 WORCS series as he charged his way to
the top of the podium for the pro class win, which has allowed him to stay
in the running for the pro points championship, while teammate, David
Haagsma had a great race after grabbing the holeshot, and taking a top five
Glen Helen was the hosting facility for this round with good weather and a
great track laid out for racers. Many tracks this season have opted out of
having a Pro or WORCS X section, but Glen Helen was more than happy to
accommodate, which is exactly what Beau Baron was hoping for. “I love
technical tracks and that’s where I do best so I was pretty happy with the
course at Glen Helen,” stated Baron.

It was crucial for Baron to win this round or he would be eliminated from
of the season at Glen Helen
any chance at the pro championship, so Baron was in top form and charged
off the start in the top five. Baron made his way into third where he stayed for five laps before making his
move. Baron passed teammate David Haagsma and then chased down points leader Jeremie Warnia. “It
was a little bit of an aggressive pass, but I had to do whatever it took to get out front,” said Baron.
Baron was charging hard, but at the halfway point, he would have to stop. “I was out front and there was a
Pro-am guy, Grant Mitchell, in front of me and he ended up flipping over right in front of me and getting
pinned under his quad. He was yelling for help so I couldn’t just leave him there so I stopped and tried to
get him out, but it was pretty tough. Then Josh Frederick caught up and I asked him to help and we were
both able to get him out. We both made sure he was ok and clear of the track before we took off again.
Josh is a good guy and I have to give props for stopping to help,” said Baron.
Despite the temporary stop, Baron would hold on to his lead and
take it all the way to the checkered flag for the pro class win.
“I’m really glad to take that win and I’m hoping I can take it to
the final round, and with a little luck, maybe win a
championship,” said Baron.
Baron will need to win the final two rounds of the season if he is
to take the championship, but the team is trying to stay focused
and concentrate on each race. “We are excited that Beau is still
in the championship points race. We have been in this position
before so we are just going to take it one race at a time for now,”
said team manager, Mike Cafro.

MCR/Maxxis Tire’s David Haagsma had a great race as well. Haagsma grabbed the holeshot and led for
the first lap. Haagsma battled it out with Jeremie Warnia, who would eventually get by, but Haagsma held
strong and was in second place until the final lap when he came under fire from veteran racer, Dustin
Nelson. Haagsma and Nelson battled hard and connected at one point, which put Haagsma back to fourth
place. Haagsma held on for fourth at the checkered flag. Haagsma is currently fifth in pro points and
could move into fourth before the end of the season if luck is on his side.

MCR/Maxxis Tire’s Julie Russell took the Women’s A class win once again and is only one more win
away from securing the Women’s A championship. “Julie has done a great job and if she wins at
Adelanto, she will wrap up the championship again. We’re really proud of her and how she has
performed this season,” stated Mike Cafro.
Round number eight of the 2011 WORCS series will head to Race Town 395 in Adelanto, CA on October
21st – 23rd where the MCR/Maxxis Tires team will be going for the podium in hopes of closing in on the
