For Immediate Release
Santa Monica, CA - September 22, 2007 - It's official: the 2007 NASMOTO AMA SuperMoto Grand Championships will now be divided into dual NASMOTO AMA East and West SuperMoto Championships located in the East at BeaveRun Raceway on September 29-30 at the NASMOTO Mid Atlantic GP and in the West at Pats Acres Raceway on October 14 at the NASMOTO GP of Oregon.
The new format was implemented to alleviate the financial and logistical pressures that teams face in racing in the NASMOTO North American qualifier events and the winner take all Grand Championship format. By splitting up the championship, NASMOTO stays true to the mission of growing the sport through competition at all levels and increasing racing opportunities.
"Our NASMOTO Dual Championship program for 2007 combined with $90 entry fee and $40 practice fee significantly reduces travel related costs and keeps participation fees at a minimum," said Ted Baker, NASMOTO V.P. "This program was built on feedback from our racers and we decided to give it a test run for this year."
The dual championship will consist of the complete lineup of championship classes including SM1 Open, SM2 250, Open Amateur, Vet 35, Novice , Premier Mini Moto and the Sportsman Class. A 1st place AMA Championship Number plate will be awarded at each event for each championship class. Each event will also include an SMX Open Invitational class to showcase top pro riders for cash purse awards.
