The World Off Road Championship Series (WORCS), seems to be immune to
the financial set backs other organizations are facing around the
world. The series is strong with entry numbers are near all-time highs
and the competition is very fierce.
What has changed on the WORCS scene is that sound levels for the pro
class have been dramatically reduced to 96 DB at all rounds. This along
with great course layouts, including a very technical, Enduro Cross
section have made spectating even more enjoyable.
While at the recent event at Racetown 395 in Adelanto California, we
watched Doug Eichner capture a monster holeshot on his Yoshimura
powered Polaris Outlaw 450MXR. In the two-hour race, the 44-year-old
Eichner allowed the two, thirty something riders of Can-Am backed Josh
Frederick and a Yamaha mounted Dustin Nelson move past and take the
checkers ahead of him.
Frederick came across the line first but not after trading the lead with his teammate, Jeremie "Frenchy" Warina. Nelson also had some drama early on by getting hung up in the tough Enduro Cross section and battling back through the pack for second, only a minute and a half behind Frederick.
